UGA Summer Music Institute and Summer Music Camp
Athens, GA June 6-10, 2010

The University of Georgia Summer Music
Camp is an intensive five-day musical experience. This program offers
students a place to grow musically in a fun and exciting learning
environment. During this time, students will rehearse, take private
lessons, attend musicianship class, perform, and have daily master
classes with our internationally renowned University of Georgia School
of Music Faculty. Campers end the camp week with a performance on
Thursday, June 10, 2010.
The Summer Music Camp
is open to band, orchestra, chorus, piano, and guitar students in grades
6 – 12. (Students must have at least one year of experience on their
instrument.)

Trumpet Camp Brian Miller
June 1-3, 7-10, 14, 16, 22, 23, 24
7-8:30 pm
This
trumpet
camp
is
meant
to
be
an
exploration
of
basic
trumpet
playing
concepts
taken
from
Stamp,
Chicowitz,
Thompson,
Black,
and
many
others.
Daily
classes
are
taught
in
a
group
setting
so
that
we
all
may
learn
from
each
other.
Private
lessons
are
available
and
suggested
to
enhance
the
student’s
experience.
Each
student
will
have
the
opportunity
to
perform
in
front
of
his
or
her
peers
on
a
daily
basis.
Depending
on
interest,
the
camp
will
end
with
a
recital
for
family
and
friends
and
each
student
is
invited
to
play.
The
camp
is
open
to
all
high
school
and
talented
middle
school
students.

Furman Band and Orchestra Camp
June 13 - 18, 2010
Attracting talented young musicians from multiple states, this
compact one-week camp offers exceptional opportunities to perform in a
variety of ensembles: a full symphony orchestra, a string orchestra, two
concert bands, a wind symphony, a jazz ensemble and several chamber
groups. The atmosphere for young musicians is stimulating, combining as
it does the challenge of performing with other motivated musicians, the
experience of daily rehearsals and the opportunity for both individual
and group instruction. In addition to performance instruction, the camp
offers classes in basic musicianship for all levels, optional private
lessons and daily recreational activities, all within the beautiful
setting of the Furman campus. The week will be a memorable experience of
musicianship and camaraderie

Cobb County Summer Music Camp
June 28 - July 1, 2010
McEachern High School
The fee
is $150 for the week and includes: Instruction, Camp T-Shirt, Lunch,
Solo and Ensemble Competition and the Finale Concert on Thursday. The
times are 8:30 - 5:00 each day and all events are held at McEachern High
School in the Performing Arts Center. Please have the students make out
their checks to the
McEachern Band Boosters
and mail their registration form to the PO Box listed on the form.

Juilliard Summer Jazz Residency
June 14 – 18, 2010
Application Deadline: May 3

The Juilliard Summer Jazz Residency is a one-week program for
high school and middle school students, ages 12 to 18, who are
dedicated, disciplined, and passionate about jazz. Located at Sutton
Middle School, the program is designed to give young jazz musicians a
taste of what a Juilliard Jazz student's life is all about: refining
technique, performance, and broadening understanding of various jazz
styles. Teachers include members of the Juilliard Jazz Division faculty,
as well as Juilliard students.
Instruments for the Juilliard Summer Jazz Residency: Saxophone, Trumpet,
Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Acoustic Bass, Electric Bass, and Drums.

Ken Stanton Summer Group Lessons

Session 2, July 10 - August 8
Summer is a chance to do what you really want to do and this year
Ken Stanton Music has introductory group classes for jazz, blues or
beginning guitar, voice, theory, and even band dynamics (for
learning how to work in a band with different instruments). We also
offer master classes including Songwriting, Shaping A Solo, Advanced
Jazz and Advanced Music Theory for experienced students who want to
focus on a specific aspect of playing. Each course is just one hour
a week for 5 weeks. These classes are discounted rates because they
are groups, but the groups are no smaller than 3 and no larger than
8 students.
