Why a fundraiser?
There are many expenses associated with running a band
program of our size. Current funding models from the Cobb County
School District are generous, but do not provide for many of the
extras our students have become accustomed to in this program.
Though we meet many of our most immediate equipment needs with
our county budget, we still anticipate additional costs for
fees, equipment, instructional materials, and guest artists
(musical instruction). While some of these costs can be offset
by county funds, those county funds can only be used for certain
specified expenses.
To supplement our county budget, the music department often has
a fundraiser. Last year, our fundraiser gave the band just over
$18,000 in additional funds, and your students are currently
benefiting from these fundraising efforts. Several new
instruments they are using were bought from our fundraising
proceeds, and the guest artists many students have worked with
have been paid out of the fundraising account. That account is
now dwindling, and our proposed expenses for the coming year are
high.
We realize that most of you are already paying to rent or own an
instrument, and that there are other miscellaneous costs for any
instrument. There are also uniform fees, private lessons,
registration fees, etc. However, fundraising and donations are
necessary for us to continue to offer our students a nationally
recognized music program that provides “extras.” A proposed
spending breakdown of future fundraiser money is on the back of
this letter.
If you choose to make a donation in lieu of participating in the
fundraiser, please make any checks out to Dickerson Middle
School, and complete the student information on the envelope.
All envelopes stamped with the “BAND” stamp and “donation”
written on the line titled “other” will go directly to the local
band account for the expenditures listed on the attached. Also,
please remember that any donations made to the Dickerson Band
are tax-deductible!
We thank you for your assistance in providing the best possible
musical instruction for our students!

Band Fundraiser in Progress!

The Dickerson Music Department has officially kicked-off
their 2007 Fundraising Drive, selling delicious New York-style
cheesecake and tubs of cookie dough. We are using a new company
this year with a proven product line of sweets that can tempt
anyone! The food is guaranteed for delivery the week before
Thanksgiving, so it will arrive just in time for Holiday
celebrations and family gatherings!

Proceeds from our fundraiser will help provide extra
instruments, supplies and instruction for our terrific students.
Click here for a detailed budget breakdown of our
fundraising profits. As always, donations from anyone who would
rather donate money than break their diet are welcomed!
Turn-in dates for the completed fundraising forms are:
8th Grade – Tuesday, October 9th
7th Grade – Wednesday, October 10th
6th Grade – Thursday, October 11th.
Please remember to mark your order forms clearly so we will
order the correct items for you! Your customers should pay you
for their items, and each student must turn in ONE CHECK
for the total cost of the order.
Delivery Day is tentatively scheduled
for Wednesday, November 14th, 2007. On that day
we will need volunteers to help in the morning unloading the
truck and in the afternoon and evening to help check-out orders.
If you are available to help, please email Ivy Foo:

Thank you for your
support of the
Dickerson Band Program!

One of
Dickerson Middle School’s Partners in Education, Azoni’s Pizza, has
teamed up with the Dickerson Middle School Band to present a very
easy fundraiser for the band program this spring. Ted Rosensweig,
owner of the Azoni’s pizza on Lower Roswell Rd, has agreed to hold
four benefit nights for tour band. On these
fundraiser nights, held every other Thursday in April and May, Ted will donate 10% of every
receipt to the Dickerson Band program! It is a perfect fundraiser
for us: all we have to do is eat dinner at Azoni’s and take lots of
friends and family! There is no additional cost for you – just
drop your receipt in the bucket and know that 10% of your purchase
is going to help the band program
The four fundraiser nights
are:
-
April 12th
-
April 26th
-
May 10tj
